is an anthology on the theme of the megalithic structures of Britain, Ireland and the European Continent: structures found at places like Avebury, Stonehenge, Newgrange and Carnac. Many thanks to all who have contributed poems and images: their moral rights and the rights of the blogmaster have been asserted

Ten years ago some of the stones in the Avebury Avenue suffered appalling desecration. It took conservators several months to remove the paint that had been daubed on the stones and during conservation they were shrouded in Hessian. When seen early in the morning or in the evening they seemed like sad figures stepping out of the past into a surreal and empty present.
